On a recent holiday in the USA I bought the Kreg Jig. This is a superb tool that allows woodworkers to quickly and easily create strong and accurate joints without the need for dowells, biscuits, glue or clamps.
It really speeds up the build process and after the initial purchase (about £100 plus screws) will start saving you time and money.
I'll be posting some pictures soon of a few items that I've made using the jig. Check out the video to see how I modified the jig to suit my bench.
Great job on the mounting solution - I shared your idea here: http://kregjig.ning.com/forum/topics/mounting-your-jig?commentId=2900167:Comment:58040
ReplyDeleteYou might not be learning dovetailing any time soon then! Lol!
ReplyDeleteNice useful jig is the Kreg. I have been working with wood for over 60 years (thereabouts) and I use one, generally for the quick, run-of-the-mill jobs.
You can buy them from Axminster and Brimarc. I believe Trend make a British metric jig of their own.
Kreg have gone back to the rear cramping handle design for some strange reason. I was lucky. I got mine before they switched!
I do like the arrangement you made for fixing the jig into your bench. Cuts out the need for those 'out-rigger' support thingamajigs!
Nice going
